The Human Rights Foundations (HRF) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights and democratic values across India. Established with the vision of building a just, inclusive, and equitable society, HRF unites individuals and communities in the shared mission of defending human dignity and freedom.
HRF works to empower the disempowered—including Dalits, tribal communities, women, children, and minorities—by helping them safeguard their individual and collective rights and live with dignity. Through education, awareness, monitoring, advocacy, and civil society mobilization, HRF fosters a culture of respect for human rights and social justice.
HRF is registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, with Government Registration No. S/1008/Distt.South/2012 (NCT of Delhi), and also registered in Kerala under the same Act with Registration No. PKD/CA/169/2012.
The jurisdiction of HRF extends throughout the entire territory of India, and includes a dedicated Pravasi Cell established for the welfare and protection of Non-Resident Indians (Pravasis), addressing their human rights concerns and providing support in matters of justice, safety, and social integration....
Organizational Structure
The National Committee serves as the apex body of HRF, entrusted with the authority to supervise, guide, and regulate the activities of all State and Union Territory branches, as well as District, Taluk, and other specialized committees or cells. It also facilitates the formation and development of subordinate committees to further the organization’s objectives.
The National Registered Office was initially located at S- No. 7, Ground Floor, L Portion, Vijay Market, Madanpur Khadar, Sarita Vihar, New Delhi – 110076, and has now been shifted to E-5/84, Sector 16, Rohini, New Delhi – 110089.
Leadership and Legacy
HRF has been privileged to have Honourable Justice C.N. Ramachandran Nair serve as its Chief Patron, and Honourable Justice K.P. Balachandran as its Patron. Their guidance and integrity continue to inspire HRF’s pursuit of justice, equality, and constitutional rights.
Our Initiatives
Since its establishment in 2012, HRF has been actively organizing Human Rights Day celebrations, legal awareness programs, and community outreach campaigns across India. While political leaders were invited as guests in earlier years, for the past seven years HRF has had the honour of hosting Judicial Officers—including Judges from District Courts, High Courts, and the Supreme Court of India—to reinforce the crucial role of the judiciary in upholding human rights and the rule of law.
